Job Description:

A irbus Helicopters is looking for a Software Engineer (d/f/m) to join our Software Department based in Marignane, France.

At Airbus Helicopters, our Software Department is at the heart of innovative projects, developing and integrating embedded software that powers critical functionalities in our helicopters, primarily for military products.

Our team doesn't just create in-house solutions; we collaborate with international teams to ensure development processes meet the highest certification standards, delivering software that truly changes the way we fly.

Now, we're looking for a Software Engineer (d/f/m) who's passionate, motivated, and ready to join us on this exciting journey.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

You'll be part of a dynamic and collaborative team where you'll contribute to every stage of the software lifecycle , from requirements specification, to design and implementation, all the way to testing and integration.

You'll work on complex embedded systems in an agile environment that encourages continuous improvement, helping to create innovative, high-quality solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing, developing, and testing real-time embedded software for safety-critical systems
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary, international teams
  • Contributing to the definition of software architecture
  • Promoting continuous improvement and fostering collaboration within teams
  • Writing and maintaining technical documentation in accordance with industry standards
  • Supporting verification and validation activities, including reviews, audits, and system integration tests
  • Participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives as part of the Agile development process
  • Interacting with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software
  • Performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting of software issues
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 26262)
  • Sharing knowledge across the organization
  • Contributing to the evaluation and adoption of new tools, technologies, and development practices

Desired skills and qualifications
  • Completed university degree (Bachelor and additional extended experience and further training / Master and additional experience and further training) in engineering or comparable in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field
  • Several years of experience in developing real-time embedded software/systems
  • Experience with avionics systems and communication protocols (e.g., MIL-STD-1553, ARINC429)
  • Knowledge of software certification standards (e.g., DO-178B/C, IEEE 12207)
  • Familiarity with scaled agile frameworks such as SAFe
  • Familiarity with agile environments
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • A true team player, eager to learn, share, and grow with the team
  • Language Skills: English - negotiation level, French - fluent
