About the role
  • Our Collonges R&I team, composed of 23 people, is integrated into the R&I Department. Silica's Business strategy is related to the development of tire innovation products and process improvements.
  • As an Application R&I Engineer, you will be focused on developing new solutions for our customers (mainly linked to rubber applications) & developing solutions to improve our environmental footprint by managing different key pillars: circularity, alternative & renewable raw materials and carbon neutrality.
  • You will be accountable for:
    • Comply with HSE requirements and participate in lab safety activities (Rubber lab)
    • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others, manage lab technicians and provide recommendations for investments
    • Planning, coordinating and monitoring assigned R&I projects according to project requirements and statement of work, drafting R&I plan, project timeline, cost estimates, quality control, analysis and reporting, and tracking project expenditure
    • Propose and execute Research & Innovation projects in the field of new product performance (link to rubber application) or product development (circularity, alternative raw material)
    • Collaboration with synthesis/process/application engineer counterpart or Business/Marketing/Industrial function to improve circularity or global chemical processes from an in-depth understanding of existing processes and new insights

  • We offer a permanent contract based on onsite / travel working mode. Travel availability is required to collaborate with internal or external partners (<20% of the time).

About you
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Material or Polymers Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in R&I technology-driven environments and agile Project Management
  • Experience in managing teams, and multiple projects, identifying potential hurdles and moving forward through the completion
  • Competencies:
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with researchers and engineers
    • English fluent and French middle knowledge are mandatory (RESUMES MUST BE SENT IN ENGLISH)
    • Experience in design of experiments, data analysis, product or process optimization
  • Behaviors:
    • Proactive in establishing collaboration with the R&I, Business, Manufacturing and Technology Function internal and external teams
    • Success in implementing a development project from lab to industrial
    • Follow-up of industrialization is a plus

About the pay and benefits
  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the France base pay reasonably expected for this role is 47.000€ to 63.000€, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
