Maizières Campus Shared Services Unit is in charge of the general management of the Maizières campus related to transversal functions. The unit provide technical resources and support to Maizières research centres on key facilities (Simulation tools, engineering office...).
Your role
Under the responsibility of the IT/IS manager and with the support of other team members, you will lead the execution of multi-team and multidisciplinary projects, and deliver the solution on time and with the expected level of quality. Embedded in the heart of the steel industry, the IT Project Manager supports research and innovation initiatives by delivering tailored digital solutions while ensuring alignment with Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards.

About the Team
Within this context, you will be working for Maizières Shared Services research centre located in Maizières-lès-Metz (France) which missions are : ensure the general management of the Maizières campus related to transversal functions and provide technical resources and support to the research centres. There are many key facilities as simulation and pilot tools: sintering pilot, 6t steelmaking pilot, in-line rolling casting pilot, hot rolling and cold rolling pilots, high speed strip guiding pilot, ... ; tensile test lab ; machining shop ; engineering offices.

Your role
Under the responsibility of the IT/IS manager and with the support of other team members, you will lead the execution of multi-team and multidisciplinary projects, and deliver the solution on time and with the expected level of quality. Embedded in the heart of the steel industry, the IT Project Manager supports research and innovation initiatives by delivering tailored digital solutions while ensuring alignment with Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Preparation
- Support the researchers in drafting the functional specifications.
- Recommend the implementation strategy after a comparative study of feasibility, schedule, budget, and required resources (internal or external).
- Define the needs for technical skills, assign roles and missions within the project team.
- Develop technical specifications in collaboration with the project stakeholders, based on the functional specifications provided by the client, considering the technical architecture and cybersecurity requirements.
- Assess expected benefits and risks (costs, deadlines, etc.) that may arise during implementation, and set up safeguards and indicators to keep them under control.
Execution
- Set up project structures and operating rules: methodology, steering and monitoring bodies with stakeholders, project roadmap, project indicators (KPIs).
- Coordinate, plan, and supervise the work of all internal and/or external providers, ensure compliance with the project budget and schedule by measuring deviations and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure the quality of interpersonal relationships and interfaces through clear communication to prevent difficulties or conflicts within teams.
- Organize, prepare, and lead steering committees and implement decisions made (project progress and significant events...).
- Validate deliverables with the client, ensuring the quality and compliance of the work performed through KPIs.
Commissioning
- Ensure the transfer of the solution to IT operational teams and define the appropriate service contract.
- Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new IT solutions, fostering user engagement and minimizing resistance across impacted teams.
- Support users and provide first-level training (user manual) if necessary.
Your profile
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required (ideally in the industry or research sector).
- You are proficient in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, Prince2) would be an asset.
- You are fluent in French and English.
- You are a team player with strong communication skills.
