Reporting to the Director of the New Product Projects Department Europe (NPPD Europe) team within EssilorLuxottica Global Lens Innovation (GLI), you will be responsible for one or more innovation projects in the field of new ophthalmic products.

These projects, which have recently led to the launch of new products such as Varilux XR Series, Crizal Sapphire HR and Transitions Gen S worldwide, cover the phases of feasibility, development through to market launch and deployment (including Wholesale, Retail and e-Commerce), while respecting deadline, cost and quality objectives.

The responsibilities of the role:
  • As New Product Project Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary (innovation/ marketing/ commercial/ engineering/ quality/ IT/ finance/ supply chain and operations) and multicultural project team. Depending on the project, you may functionally supervise a team of New Product Project Managers within the framework of global coordination.
  • You will implement the Stage Gate Process as well as project management methods adapted to bringing new products to market.
  • You will be committed to value creation, product quality and commercial launch planning.
  • You'll be responsible for managing resources and schedules, identifying and communicating risks and scope changes, and implementing risk mitigation plans.
  • You will produce the documentation dictated by the stage gate process and best project management practices: project charter, macro and detailed planning, risk analyses, monthly summaries, meeting minutes, Stage Gate deliverables, etc.
  • You will also be responsible for communicating project progress to top management and to governance committees (C2SC, CSC).
  • You will participate in the department's internal continuous improvement projects.
  • You may be required to lead Strategic Projects for the EssilorLuxottica Group, managing a portfolio of projects as part of complex initiatives with high business stakes for the Group.

The background, experience and skillset of the candidate we are looking for:
  • An engineering or business school graduate, ideally with 10 years' experience in project management.
  • Experience in the Electronics industry is a must. Knowledge as a Product Owner and an understanding of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) concept and iteration versioning are key as you will get to work onSmart Eyewear projects.
  • Comfortable speaking and dealing with agility and responsiveness with major players like GAFA (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex and changing environments, to influence, convince and obtain buy-in from the team, sponsors and department heads.
  • Autonomous, organized, pro-active, results-oriented and with genuine ability to coordinate multiple group departments and steer projects.
  • Strong understanding of the interdependencies between operations and the needs of the optical industry business.
  • Knowledge of the Stage Gate Process will be an asset, as will good knowledge of working in sprints, MS project and Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Fluency in English is essential for this position.
