Reporting into the Executive Directors of R&D, the Director of R&D, Global, Software & Creative leads the R&D Software & Creative product and technology branch of L-Acoustics. Next to Loudspeaker Systems and Electronics, the Software & Creative branch constitutes one of three pillar organizations in the R&D organization.
Managing three Departments across Research, Technology & Platform and Product Development, he/she is responsible for the overall success of the branch in achieving long-term research goals for L-Acoustics to remain at the forefront of technological innovation, ensuring technologies and platforms are aligned and enabling best-in-class Product Development cycles. Owning the short-, mid- and long-term vision for the branch, he/she plays a pivotal role in aligning the company's technological capabilities with its strategic goals.
In this capacity, he/she works closely with his/her peers spearheading the Loudspeaker Systems and Electronics branches to ensure cross-branch synergies and fostering a culture of collaboration across all three R&D branches. Furthermore, he/she is a driving force in establishing and maintaining cross-divisional collaboration, in particular with the Product Management Division and the Product Management Director, Software.

Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the R&D strategy in alignment with the company's business objectives, setting up the branch for success.
- Develop/identify and integrate emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
- Establish and communicate a clear vision for R&D initiatives, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Drive the end-to-end strategy for the R&D branch from long-term research strategies to short-term product development lifecycles.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including Product Management Directors and executive leadership, to ensure alignment and transparency. Build and maintain privileged communication with the Product Management Director in charge of the same branch.
- Communicate R&D plans, progress, and results to internal and external stakeholders. Act as an ambassador for the R&D branch.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to align R&D efforts with business goals.
Departmental Leadership:
- Manage and provide strategic direction to Department leadership :
- Director of Research
- Director of Technology
- Director of Product Development.
- Ensure each department aligns with the overall R&D strategy and company objectives.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among the Research, Technology & Platforms, and Product Development teams all the while encouraging transverse collaboration with their peers in the other R&D branches.
Innovation and Technology Integration:
- Drive the exploration and integration of new technologies and methodologies.
- Oversee the development of technology platforms that support product innovation.
- Ensure the continuous improvement of R&D processes and methodologies.
Talent Development:
- Attract, develop, and manage a diverse and inclusive team of R&D professionals.
- Set clear, measurable goals and provide the necessary resources and training for team success.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the R&D team.
Performance Monitoring:
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for R&D activities.
- Regularly review and assess the performance of R&D projects and initiatives.
- Implement corrective actions as needed to ensure the achievement of R&D goals.
An ideal candidate will bring :
- Educational Background:
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Additional qualifications in business management or an MBA are a plus.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in significant leadership roles across research and development.
- Industry expertise in audio technology is a plus.
- Proven background in Software R&D leadership.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale R&D projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong technical proficiency in software development, technology platforms, and product innovation.
- Experience in integrating emerging technologies and driving organizational innovation.
- Ability to develop and execute long-term R&D strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Experience in managing and developing diverse teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with key stakeholders and presenting R&D plans and progress.
- Proficiency in defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for R&D activities.
- Proven ability to work across different branches and departments to ensure alignment and synergy.
