Job description
Position Overview
We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with strong expertise in radiation physics and/or cryogenic engineering to lead both our product and service development. You will drive the technical strategy, overseeing the design and optimization of radiation-shielded cryostats and implementing specialized radiation measurement services tailored for biobanks. This role demands a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to building groundbreaking cryogenic and radiation detection solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Service Development: Develop and launch low level radiation detection and consulting services for biobanks, implementing precision radiation measurement methodologies and customized shielding recommendations.
• Cryostats Shielding Development: Lead the design, testing, and enhancement of radiation-shielded cryostats, focusing on neutron and gamma radiation protection for cryogenic storage applications.
• Radiation Physics Expertise: : Apply in-depth knowledge in radiation physics to optimize shielding materials and build a comprehensive radiation protection strategy.
• Measurement & Validation: Oversee the validation of shielding, cryostat and storage materials from the point of view of natural radioactivity, conduct simulations, and perform on-site radiation measurement to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaboration & Partnerships: Collaborate with research institutions like CNRS to refine radiation measurement techniques and cryostat shielding, supporting both product and service offerings.
• Innovation & IP Strategy: Build and manage the IP portfolio by filing patents for proprietary shielding technology and developing simulation models, contributing to Cell Tereo's unique market advantage.
• Team Building: Recruit and guide an engineering team skilled in radiation measurement, cryogenic technology, and product design.
Profile
Qualifications
• Academic Background: Engineer or PhD in nuclear physics, nuclear engineering, or related field, with knowledge in radiation measurement and/or radioprotection.
• Experience: 5+ years in a technical role focused on radiation protection, cryogenics, or cryostat development (optional), ideally within a startup or R&D-intensive environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in radiation measurement technologies, simulation tools (e.g., MCNP, MATLAB) and CAD design development (optional).
• Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced startup environment and willingness to self-fund until the pre-seed round closes.
Why Join Us?
As CTO, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping a breakthrough technology at the intersection of radiation physics and cryopreservation. At Cell Tereo, you'll drive the development of cutting-edge technology to protect biological samples over time. This is a unique opportunity to join a market-first innovation journey and contribute to the establishment of a forward-thinking MedTech company.
Compensation:
Founder and corporate officer status, no immediate salary; compensation is contingent upon securing funding that ensures the remuneration of executives. Participation in the initial capital of the start-up.
