Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

The heart of a spacecraft lies in its engine, and that's why we are dedicated to developing our own cutting-edge Propulsion Systems ensuring the highest level of efficiency and reliability in our space endeavours.

We are seeking a talented Ignition System Design Engineer to join our Propulsion Systems division. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the design and development of the ignition systems for a high-thrust Liquid Rocket Engine.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead trade-offs regarding the architecture of ignition systems for a high-thrust Liquid Rocket Engine
• Lead the design of the selected systems, including the maturation needs of these components
• Ensure that detailed hydraulic and combustion analyses are performed, reviewed and meet the required performance and reliability targets
• Closely cooperate with the other team members to successfully and collaboratively design and manufacture ignition systems
• Participate to the components and assembly test campaigns (configuration definition, test preparation, execution and results analyses)
• Iterate on the design of the ignition systems using simulated and real-world test data
• Prepare technical documentation and contribute to reviews
• Interact with suppliers and manufacturers but also with customers as a project key contributor

What we would love to see from you:

• Master's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 3 years of related experience
• Hands-on experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypes
• Strong technical fundamentals in fluid mechanics, combustion dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer
• Proficient with CAD software (Siemens NX is an asset)
• Experience with CFD software (ANSYS FLUENT is an asset)
• A system engineering approach to problem-solving and design trades
• Experience writing software in languages like Python
• Experience with additive manufacturing is an asset
