Teaching

The successful applicant will teach in the Computer Science department of the UTC. She/he will take part in engineering and master's courses. He/she could be involved in the training for alternance and core courses (L1, L2 level). Her/his contribution may concern one or more teaching modules dealing with real-time systems, embedded systems, frugal embedded systems, intelligent sensors, intelligent systems (robotics), virtual reality and control. Dual experience in hardware and software would be appreciated.

Teaching will be carried out in synergy with research work.
Research

The Heudiasyc laboratory would like to strengthen its activities on the control of autonomous robots and mixed reality interaction in the SyRI (Robotic Interaction Systems) team by offering a contractual lecturer-researcher position (ECC).

For this position, the laboratory is particularly interested in recruiting a person with strong skills in the field of robotics navigation (planning and control) or mixed/augmented reality.

This includes, for example, skills in one or more of the following scientific axes:
  • Control of robotic systems: optimal, adaptive, non-linear and resilient control, robust control schemes.
  • Human-robot interactions for robot control. To increase operational and decision-making autonomy in a dynamic environment, we are considering remote operations or on-board autonomous robotic systems such as teleoperation, regaining control of the autonomous vehicle, shared control between an operator and the autonomous system.
  • Augmented or mixed reality for human-robot interactions including multimodal interaction schemes (haptic control, visual metaphors, etc.).
  • Artificial intelligence methods for planning or controlling robots: mixing classic methods (model-based) with learning techniques (reinforcement learning, deep learning) for autonomous vehicles and more broadly for control and robotic navigation.

These skills will be used to support existing or developing scientific research axes within the team: drone control, multi-robots, autonomous vehicle navigation, human-robot interaction, virtual/mixed/augmented reality.

The successful applicant will also have an interest in emerging technologies and in experiments including, if it possible, humans in the loop.

The successful applicant will participate in projects carried out by the laboratory, the Equipex+ TIRREX and CONTINUUM, the CPER RITMEA, the PostGenAI@Paris AI cluster, which today constitute a privileged research environment. She/he will also participate, in consultation with the platforms service, the partnership and valorization strategy and its implementation through internal and external projects.

The organisation

Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), a member of the SorbonneUniversity Alliance (ASU) and the network of universities of technology (UT), isranked among the top French engineering schools in a number of nationalrankings, and offers a particularly favorable environment for teaching andresearch www.utc.fr
The department

The Department of Computer Science, one of the 6 departments at UTC, offers course units for entry-level students as part of the UTC Common Core and for students pursuing the different engineering majors (whether full-time or as a sandwich course), as well as providing professional vocational training in engineering. It also awards research degrees at the master's and PhD levels.

The Department hosts the LMAC and Heudiasyc laboratories. It maintains strong connections with industry in teaching as well as in research, and has created close links with international academic institutions and partners.

The laboratory

Heudiasyc (UMR. 7253) is a joint research unit linking UTC and CNRS. It conducts multidisciplinary research focused on information science and technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, uncertain reasoning, operational research, networks, robotics, automation and knowledge representation.

Heudiasyc's activities are based on a synergy between basic research and technological research, to better respond to the major challenges facing society in the field of information science. Research is done in close collaboration with commercial partners, in particular in the industrial sector.

The scientific activity of the laboratory is organized around 3 teams with complementary skills:
• The CID team (Knowledge, Uncertainties and Data)
• The SCOP team (Security, Communication, Optimization)
• SyRI Team (Interacting Robotic Systems)

The platforms and demonstrators developed at the laboratory are testimony to Heudiasyc's determination to bring its research to bear on the complexities of real-world applications.

The laboratory has 4 platforms used in French national innovation programs (Equipex+) together with research support staff:

- Intelligent and autonomous vehicles

- Aerial mini-drones

- Supervision of rail traffic

- Virtual reality.

Shared services provide members of the lab with administrative and technical support. The general secretariat provides support in terms of administration, human resources, finance and communication. The "technological platforms" unit brings together the human and technical means for carrying out experiments and tests.

The laboratory maintains close relations with industrial partners through projects and contracts.

In particular, it manages the joint (UTC-Renault) SIVALab laboratory and an industrial chair supported by the partnership foundation of the UTC involving several industrial partners.

It also cultivates close links with other institutions in France (including SCAI, EQUIPEX+ Tirrex, and Continuum) and international institutions including Japan, China, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Lebanon with an CNRS IRP program.
