Engineering Manager - Observability

CLOUD PLATFORM ENGINEERING (CPE) TEAMS

As a future Digital Giant, Decathlon needs to build solid foundations for its services. Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE), a collaborative initiative launched in 2020, aims to respond to this. Today, the CPE is a Business Unit of nearly 140 people who continue to source and work hand in hand with the teams in each area.

In the CPE, the Platform team that you will join deals with subjects allowing you to reduce the time of creation, testing, deployment and operation of products in production. The team will measure the value creation and adoption of its solutions. Close collaboration with teams is essential to concretely help them transform.

Topics around Observability are essential to our success because they allow developers to meet our velocity objectives without reducing the level of quality. Business and engineering-oriented decisions will also be simplified thanks to a real-time view of the entire technology stack.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy
  • Lead Observability teams
  • Co-write and lead the implementation of the technological vision of the Domain Platform with teams and clients
  • Build and enrich with the team the catalog of services common to all Decathlon entities
  • Ensure the relevance of the services provided to users

Leadership
  • Convey the Meaning, the Vision, the Decathlon project within the team
  • Continue to grow teams
  • Support employees in their "job/role" development and their skills.
  • Lead employees on monitoring and innovation, proposing new services and organizations
  • Negotiate with suppliers on already existing services
  • Manage product budgets and economic models

Tech
  • Contribute to the development of solutions and/or the training of our users

The technical scope:

Delivery: Datadog, Dynatrace, Pagerduty, Solarwinds, Splunk

Code management: Github

Cloud Service Providers: GCP, AWS

Infra-as-Code: Terraform

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • You have at least 7 years of experience as a developer and/or tech manager
  • You like to evolve in an Agile context
  • You have several experiences in the functional and/or hierarchical management of technical teams
  • You have technical experience in the development field
  • You give priority to the satisfaction of your customers, internal or external
  • You enjoy working in an international environment. You are proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • You are curious. Part of your work will be to propose, test and implement the services of the future for Decathlon.
  • You communicate effectively both with technical experts and with feature teams.
  • You are particularly sensitive to the impact of practicing sport for the values that it has allowed you to acquire in your leadership style and the animation of your teams!
