Job Description
- In order to ensure a successful EGNOS service transition from EGNOS V2 to EGNOS V3 several activities are performed by EUSPA:
- Follow-up of the EGNOS V3 development for the operation and maintenance related aspects in the V3 system (support to sub-systems follow-up, system level definition of the operations and maintenance Library of EGNOS Operations -LEO, preparation of the migration scenario). This activity is performed in an integrated manner within the ESA project structure.
- Definition and follow-up of the activities to be performed by the EGNOS Service Provider (ESP) during the main steps of the V2/V3 transition until the Entry into Service. The ESP activities are contracted by EUSPA to ESSP.
- Consolidation at service level (EGNOS SoL / EDAS / Maritime) of the different outputs in order to ensure a smooth transition from EGNOS V2 services to EGNOS V3 services, with the objective to avoid interruption of service. The first step in this process is a service concept review which is then followed by a service consolidation and design review.
- Supporting the set up and execution of the EGNOS V3 SoL/EDAS/Maritime Service Process (under the EUSPA Service Management Framework) through the production of technical inputs and programmatic plans
- Ensuring the processing of the inputs produced by the ESP feeding the definition of the service transition strategy up to the entry into service
- Supporting the coordination of the analysis of the system development inputs needed by the Service Provider to consolidate its approach for the service transition
- Supporting the definition and follow-up of the ESP activities related to the EGNOS V2 to EGNOS V3 transition activities and contributing to the preparation of the Agency's activities for this transition.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or Service Management (e.g., ITIL Foundation/Expert) are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with GNSS systems, EGNOS architecture, and European space programmes (ESA, EUSPA) is a strong asset.
- Minimum 6-10 years of experience in GNSS operations, system transitions, or service management within aerospace or satellite navigation domains.
- Proven experience in:
- System development follow-up and operations library definition
- Service transition planning and migration scenario preparation
- Stakeholder coordination across ESA, EUSPA, ESSP, and other institutional or industrial partners
- Service concept and design reviews for satellite-based services (SoL, EDAS, Maritime)
- Technical input consolidation and programmatic planning under structured frameworks
- Experience with contractor oversight, especially in managing activities performed by service providers (e.g., ESSP).
