About the role:

The Performance Optimization team aims at using advanced ML & Optimization tools on all the lifecycle of a quantum chip: design, simulation, calibration, operation, error correction.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will bridge the gap between R&D and production. You'll transform conceptual algorithms into efficient, hardware-integrated implementations alongside your team. Additionally, you will oversee ML model training on a dedicated GPU cluster, gaining valuable expertise in quantum research and practical AI development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement machine learning and optimization algorithms
• Develop the link between our quantum hardware and experiment's tooling
• Drive the integration of algorithms into our complex software system, prioritizing code robustness and system compatibility
• Coordinate and train ML models on a GPU cluster, and handle job scheduling and performance monitoring

Requirements

• Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied mathematics or related field
• Demonstrated proficiency in Python programming and numerical modelling, and familiar with a tensor library (PyTorch, Jax)
• Solid mathematical background to interact with quantum physicist

Nice to Have

• Publications in machine learning conferences as a lead author
• Ability to manage and execute deployment tasks (e.g., SSH, environment setup, debugging)
• Curiosity about quantum physics and physical simulation (prior knowledge is a plus but not required)
• Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of ownership, ensuring complete, high-quality project delivery
