Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer will be in an integrated and dynamic Mechanics Business Unit (MBU) product creation team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining state of art capabilities in structural Finite Elements and advanced simulation procedures.

He will contribute to the normalization of data storage across multiple MBU products and homogenization of the different file formats. To do so, the R&D Engineer will assess and understand the requirements of each product and address them.

The R&D Engineer contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to accomplish development objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs basic development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
  • Learn and employs best practices.
  • Performs basic bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
  • Investigates problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
  • Required Minimum Years of Professional Experience: BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Working experience with software design and development and numerical simulation
  • Good knowledge in C++, Fortran or Python

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience with object-oriented design, scripting languages, data structures and algorithms
  • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code.
  • Basic understanding of the software development process
  • Understanding customer requirements and tools used in this domain.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.
  • Linux experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of databases and file storage frameworks such as hdf5.
