Context

As the Lead Data Scientist, you will oversee a team that plays a critical role in enabling innovation across multiple business domains, including risk management, customer service, debt recovery, marketing, and compliance. It is responsible for the entire model lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, and monitoring, ensuring high-quality and scalable solutions that meet the business's needs.

Your responsabilities :

• Team Leadership & Management:
• Lead and mentor a team of 4 data scientists, fostering their growth and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
• Act as a hands-on leader by actively participating in the realization of projects, whether bootstrapping new initiatives or reviewing and finalizing the team's work.
• Grow the team to support Younited's product expansion
• Project Ownership:
• Drive impactful data science projects across functional domains, such as:
• § Customer Funnel Optimization: Automate the processing of documents submitted by credit applicants (e.g., Open Banking data, payslips).
• § Fraud Detection: Develop robust systems to identify and prevent fraudulent activities.
• § Customer Service Automation: Build AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency in customer interactions.
• § Debt Recovery Optimization: Use predictive models to improve collection strategies.
• § Marketing Spend Optimization: Analyze and optimize marketing expenditures to maximize ROI and improve customer acquisition strategies.
• Strategic Data Science Initiatives:
• Explore and identify new opportunities where AI and data science can bring value, particularly in automating processes and optimizing operations.
• Promote and deploy AI solutions across the organization, including presenting insights and results to a wide range of audiences, from operational teams to executive committees (C-level).
• Cross-Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with Machine Learning Engineers, product teams, and business experts to ensure smooth integration and deployment of models.
• Effectively communicate data-driven insights and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.

About your profile

• Experience:
• 7 to 10 years of professional experience in data science, with a proven track record of impactful projects.
• Prior experience managing and mentoring data science teams.
• A strong preference for candidates with experience in banking or financial services, especially in consumer credit.
• Hands-On Leadership:
• Ensure projects are executed successfully by closely monitoring progress and providing support to the team as needed.
• Be actively involved in the team's work, whether by bootstrapping new initiatives, providing technical reviews, or helping complete critical tasks.
• Prioritize effective delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Proficiency in Python (mandatory) and its associated data science stack (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn).
• Strong background in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP and/or Azure (at least one of them).
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and align with business objectives.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences, including executive committees and operational teams.
