Within the framework of the PEPR SN SMATCH and in collaboration with the PreMeDICaL Inria team.
This research project focuses on the integration of external multi-source data to enhance decision-making in clinical research. The first task involves selecting relevant external data by assessing the similarity, discordance, and heterogeneity of results from various sources. Divergence-based distances will be refined to measure concordance between posterior distributions, ensuring that differences in sample sizes across sources do not distort comparisons. Transformations will be applied to standardize distributions, enabling consistent and meaningful integration of information. This approach aims to effectively propagate combined knowledge and uncertainties to subsequent clinical phases.
The second task addresses the issue of research waste caused by interrupted clinical trials, which often lead to significant information loss and reduced statistical power. This project will develop statistical methods to mitigate these challenges, employing frequentist analyses, Bayesian inference, and the incorporation of synthetic and auxiliary data from external sources. By doing so, it aims to preserve valuable information and improve the reliability of results in both individually and cluster-randomized trials.
