Job Description

Joined our Softgoods/Apparel Team as our new Material Developer W/M !

As a Material Developer W/M you will be responsible to initiate and anticipate the development process of the materials and collaborate with the apparel team until the stage of production.

Your main missions :

Development :

• Contribute to the creation of the product offer and to the satisfaction of the end customer by developing innovative, efficient and reliable materials while remaining at the forefront of technology
• Define the solutions, the technical choices by controlling the innovation / risk-taking adequacy
• Manage the selection of materials taking into account their performance, production locations and the price target while optimizing the number of materials
• Ensure material booking for prototypes in collaboration with the purchasing team and Material sourcing platform (material selection file)
• From the Design files and within defined timelines, check material conformity in regards of quality standards and design expectations.
• Check the reliability and availability of technical files and required data for production
• Be in phase with the brand's values, CSR approach and sustainability target in the development of materials
• Lead meetings around fabric selection process and secure follow up with key stakeholders
• Order fabric yardages for internal prototyping

Anticipation :

• Collaborate in the development of university partnerships
• Follow up on technical textile innovation in the industry
• Contribute to the development of the material library (library of textile materials)
• Lead some specific anticipation project (advanced material development project)

Qualifications

Essential skills & experience :

• You possess 5 years minimum experiences on a similar position
• You ideally own a Master degree in Textile engineering
• You have a strong expertise in outwear product, technical product knowledge.
• You have knowledge in garment construction and production
• You are highly self-motivated
• You are able to work independently.
• You know how to convert innovation to production

Essential competencies :

• Market Knowledge : You understands the market context in which the business operates. You know the main product, competitors and customer. You are also able to identified emerging trends and competitors.
• Innovation : You are able to creates new and better ways to solve business problems and/or create better business. You will based your improvement on benchmark.
• Communication : You utilize inter-personal skills to support a positive work environment; interpreting and reacting positively to emotional cues, building effective relationship. You have good emotional intelligence to be able to adapt your style accordingly to different circumstances and audiences.

Desired qualifications

• IT: You mastered MC Office. Centric is a plus
• Languages: English: fluent, French and Mandarin a plus.
