About us

Owkin is building the first universal AI Operating System called K to lay the foundation for Biological Artificial Superintelligence (BASI). This OS integrates a suite of AI agents that decode complex biology, accelerate research, and dramatically increase productivity. Acting as copilots, Owkin K agents will automate drug discovery and diagnostics and power next-gen pharma companies.

Owkin's OS will be powered by the world's largest federated multimodal patient data network, a robotized lab, leading AGI technologies, and cutting-edge multimodal foundation models and LLMs.

About the role:

Position is based in Paris, Nantes, London offices OR remotely from France or UK.

In the Engineering team at Owkin, you will be at the heart of our mission to accelerate research at scale. You will contribute to building and maintaining a robust research platform that enables our data scientists and researchers to focus on what matters most - advancing scientific discoveries.
In particular, you will:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and services on AWS, with a focus on SageMaker and other machine learning tools
• Contributing to the evolution of our platform architecture to support emerging needs in AI/ML research, federated learning, and large-scale data processing
• Collaborating with researchers and data scientists to understand their needs and implement solutions that enhance their productivity
• Supporting and improving our CI/CD pipelines, development workflows, and security practices
• Participating in incident response and platform support to ensure high availability and reliability

• For researchers: You'll help create an efficient, user-friendly environment that accelerates their work and enables them to focus on scientific innovation rather than infrastructure challenges
• For engineering teams: You'll provide robust platform capabilities and best practices that enable scalable and efficient development of features

About you

More than a list of requirements, we are looking for a skilled individual able to mobilize their experience to deliver value as part of a team. Autonomy in learning and delivering is valued as much as being able to embrace the culture and processes.

Required:

• Significant experience as software or cloud engineer: this is an intermediate level position
• Full professional proficiency in English: our team is distributed across Europe, English is the lingua franca.
• Demonstrated attention to quality and software engineering processes: we run what we build and reliability is one of our team's value
• Experience with either Python or Golang: those are the most widespread languages in the company
• Experience with terraform and AWS services: we manage our infra as code
• Familiar with Kubernetes and OCI: all services and payloads are running on Kubernetes, across multiple clusters

Preferred qualifications/bonus:

• Experience with MLOps practices
• Experience with platform engineering
