Quality AssuranceAbout Quandela :
Quandela is a French deeptech company, spin-off from CNRS, designing and building Europe's first general-purpose photonic quantum computers - available via the cloud and delivered to academic and industrial partners.
We're not just a hardware company. We're building the full stack: from quantum chips to simulation software (Perceval), developer APIs, and a cloud platform to run quantum algorithms at scale. Based in Massy and Paris-Saclay, our team brings together physicists, engineers, and developers shaping the future of quantum computing.
As we move from R&D to production, quality is becoming a strategic pillar. We're now looking for our first full-time QA Engineer to help us scale with confidence.
Why This Role Matters ?This isn't a support role. It's a builder's role.
We already have a QA base in place - automated tests, Behave/Gherkin stack, initial coverage - but we need someone who will take ownership of it, expand it, and help make it central to how we build, test, and release.
From our quantum simulator Perceval to our cloud services and user-facing apps - and all the way to firmware running on physical machines - quality is not optional. It's what enables trust, reproducibility, and scale.
You won't just make sure things work. You'll help define how we know they work, and how we make them work better.
Requirements
What You'll Do :
How You'll Grow (3 / 6 / 12 Months)
What We're Looking For :
Must-Have
We're generally looking for candidates with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - but we're open to diverse paths if the experience speaks for itself.
Benefits
What We Offer
We know that building quality in a fast-growing, deeptech company is not a plug-and-play mission. It takes structure, communication, initiative - and the right environment.
You'll join a team that values clarity, cares about robustness, and is actively looking for someone to challenge how we build, test, and ship. You won't be on the sidelines. You'll be right in the middle of it.
We already have a working QA base. What we need is someone to transform it into a real, reliable, company-wide practice.
You'll find:
One Last Thing
We're not looking for someone to just execute test plans.
We're looking for someone who wants to help shape how quality is built, side by side with the people building the most advanced quantum systems in Europe.
You might come from QA, Dev, DevOps or systems engineering - if this challenge speaks to you, even partly, we'd love to hear your take...
Let's talk :)

You won't just make sure things work. You'll help define how we know they work, and how we make them work better.
Requirements
What You'll Do :
- Own and evolve our QA stack (Python, Behave, Gherkin)
- Design and run automated tests across our core software components: Cloud platform, Perceval, user account system, Training Center
- Expand coverage across 10+ applications, some already covered, others still mostly manual
- Define and track QA metrics: response times, simulation accuracy, job stability, training rewards, etc.
- Contribute to QA for software embedded in hardware products (e.g. Prometheus, demultiplexers, firmware)
- Clarify and challenge specs when needed (not everything is fully written ; we need someone who can help us structure and de-risk)
- Act as QA point of contact across Dev, Cloud, Product, and Hardware teams
How You'll Grow (3 / 6 / 12 Months)
- 3 months :
You've mapped QA coverage, stabilized the test environment, and supported releases across core apps.
- 6 months :
You've expanded automation, implemented QA workflows for hardware-software integration, and introduced clear KPIs.
- 12 months :
You're the go-to QA person at Quandela. You've helped shape a sustainable quality strategy and laid the foundation for a future QA team.
What We're Looking For :
Must-Have
- 3-4 years of experience in QA, test automation, or related roles
- Solid Python skills, hands-on with Behave/Gherkin
- Structured mindset: you know how to define test plans and coverage
- Comfortable with test metrics: SLA, SLI, regression, performance tracking
- Able to collaborate in cross-functional teams and handle changing specs
- A dose of curiosity and autonomy, with feet on the ground.
- Languages
- English : C1 : Full professional proficiency (you'll work in a multicultural team where English is our main working language - both spoken and written)
- French : C1 : Intermediate to advanced level (many internal processes and informal exchanges still happen in French - being comfortable in everyday conversations is a plus)
> FYI - Quandela is a international environment (+30 nationalities)
- Experience testing hardware-software systems
- Exposure to scientific or R&D-grade software
- Interest in quantum, HPC, photonics, or advanced tech
- Awareness of industry norms (defense, research, etc.)
