Position responsibilities

About this position: The Optical Communication Technology Lab at Huawei Paris Research Center is working on advanced, automated, AI-native optical networks. We are seeking strong candidates for a junior and senior research positions in the area of generative AI for optical networks, to be filled as soon as possible. The research position aims at innovation in the design of genAI algorithms for the next generation high-capacity optical networks, with a goal to facilitate and automate network design, operation and management, and is performed in teams spanning across multiple international Huawei research sites. Main Responsibilities: • Research and innovation in the area of AI applied to the design, operation and management of complex systems (optical networks); • Theory exploration, advanced algorithm design, analysis, and simulation; • Generation of intellectual property and patent filing; • Collaboration with other team and business units for exploitation of research outputs; • Create and maintain strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers.

Position Requirements

• Ph.D. degree related to genAI / large models; • Familiarity with Python and other programming and simulation tools; • Ability to conduct independent research while also contributing to team-oriented projects; • Publications in leading journals and conferences, and/or patents; • A good background in physics will be appreciated; • Fluency in English, oral and written communication skills.
