DevOps Engineer - Travel Intelligence operationsBusiness Environment

As part of the Amadeus Big Data & BI offering, the Travel Intelligence portfolio offers solutions to get better Air Market understanding to Airlines, Travel agencies and DMOs.

These solutions, proposed through several means (Data feeds, Analytics and bespoke services) are used to support strategic decisions of our customers thanks to the access to multiple layers of information built using Demand, Seat & Schedule, Pricing, Booking as well as passenger capacity data.

The processing of those data, as well as the data visualization layer is entirely hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform and part the Amadeus Creation platform. It leverages distributed systems combining Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Spark) with different Database/Datawarehouse systems (e.g. AWS Aurora, AWS Redshift) and state of the art web-technologies for data consumption (REST/Json webservices with HTML5 user interface) or visualization tools.

You would integrate the team in charge of the "Core SRE/Devops" of the Travel Intelligence platform. This covers the coordination with the platform operations team, the application technical architecture and monitoring (availability, performance, data freshness) and activities related to the delivery pipeline and tooling (CI/CD, scheduling solutions, ...).

Public Clouds are the team's playground. Applications are running on Amazon Web Services, with strong interactions with Amadeus Azure teams, to consume data from the Amadeus data mesh as well as to push Travel Intelligence assets onto it.

Your Main Responsibilities

Our top priority is customer satisfaction. As a DevOps you will be in charge of monitoring the production to ensure data delivery on time to the customer.

You will also be maintaining and improving automation and tooling on full CI/CD pipeline:
  • Build, release and deployment (Jenkins, Helm, Docker)
  • Operations (AWS EKS, AWS EMR, AWS Redshift, Airflow, AWS S3)
  • Monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, AWS Cloudwatch)

Common Accountabilities:
  • Possess the required technical/functional knowledge and experience in own discipline, with an understanding of the Amadeus business and its relation to the area of work.
  • Operate using existing procedures or guidelines, providing inputs to support and influence area decisions. Make recommendations on new solutions and propose improvements by analyzing different sources of information.
  • Work with a moderate level of guidance and direction from the manager.

Specific Accountabilities:

Analysis and Design:
  • Analyze specifications and define user requirements for the development of new or upgraded data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, quality analysts, and business stakeholders to develop, implement, and refine features.
  • Design technical solutions and perform feasibility studies.
  • Propose viable and scalable technical solutions to Product Management and/or users for validation.

Development and Implementation:
  • Develop software according to Amadeus standards, ensuring stability, monitoring, automation, operability, deployability, and implementability.
  • Model, design, and implement databases.
  • Design and implement high scalability, high availability solutions dealing with high levels of parallelization.
  • Optimize the performance of existing data pipelines and reduce their operational costs.
  • Ensure data quality, security, and governance (GDPR zones, data catalog).

Operations and Maintenance:
  • Manage application operations for Amadeus Core Services end to end, including the full application stack (OS, Databases, Data Stores, Application, Links, vNW) and corresponding support functions according to agreed service levels (internal & external).
  • Conduct unit, package, and performance tests, ensuring a level of quality in line with Amadeus guidelines.
  • Participate in the validation phase of the product cycle, fine-tuning as necessary to finalize the product.
  • Support customers by debugging existing solutions in collaboration with Product Managers or Product Definition Analysts.

Service Automation and Management:
  • Drive service automation and manage change, release, and test processes, focusing on automation.
  • Handle problem and incident management, leveraging functional and technical knowledge to lead activities and perform at the highest level.
  • Contribute to building a healthy and collaborative environment, leading by example.

Documentation:
  • Produce necessary software documentation and issue it to the requesting departments.
