You will join Shared Services Unit of Maizières campus which is ArcelorMittal's largest Research and Development site in the world and which is a key asset in Global R&D's organisation. It groups a mix of experienced researchers and young talented people from more than 30 nationalities working in result-driven projects.

Your role

'As HPC (High Performance Computing) Engineer for the Maizières-Lès-Metz R&D site, you will report to the site's IT manager and your missions will be :
  • Plan, design, and implement high-performance computing clusters tailored to the specific needs of the researchers.
  • Select the most appropriate hardware components (processors, GPUs, networks) and software (operating systems, cluster management tools).
  • Optimize applications through collaboration with external resources or adaptation of existing codes to improve their performance on HPC architectures
  • Maintain and upgrade infrastructure, including management of backups, security, and recovery of HPC systems.
  • Provide user support and training
  • Manage performance and implement monitoring tools to track resource usage, detect bottlenecks, and propose improvements
  • Perform Technological Watch on the latest technological advancements in high-performance computing
  • Write and maintain technical documentation related to HPC infrastructures.

As member of a transversal team, you will work closely with researchers, software developers, and infrastructure administration teams to ensure the seamless integration of HPC solutions into the company's processes.
You will also participate actively in project meetings and technical discussions to align HPC objectives with the researchers' needs.

Your profile
  • You hold a Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent with similar experience in computer science of at least 3 years.
  • You have a significant experience in Linux/Unix system administration and a strong knowledge of HPC tools and libraries.
  • Your ability to manage cluster systems (Slurm, PBS, etc.) and your knowledge of processor architectures and high-performance networks are needed to support our researchers.
  • A team spirit is required to communicate in an efficient way with all stakeholders.
  • Daily professional English practice is needed as well as proficiency in French.
